Caligula was considered a terrible ruler in every aspect, including his method to manage society with social policies. He was the epitome of a "ruler with an iron fist" as he proclaimed himself superior to everyone. Any soul who dared to challenge him was thoroughly punished. His most famous quote with regard to absolute societal domination was "remember, I have the right to whatever I want to anybody." Society was at his will and as a result freedom to people in the empire was very limited (History.com)
Known for his compassionate hand and hospitality, Julius Caeasar was revered for being very accepting of diversity. He treated everybody as equals and allowed all voices to be heard in political affairs. He emphasized the importance of family, morality, and self-virtue to everyone. He also encouraged the rich to make it a priority to help out the middle and lower classes, stressing that the aristocrats should not dominate society. Augustus encouraged the concept of an early and prosperous marriage for all people. It was required to marry for males or else they would be punished. Having children was a must in this era of the Roman empire, and families with lots of children were often rewarded for their service to society. Augustus also made divorce laws stricter, therefore saving a lot of marriages. Adultery was a civil crime that was punishable by death. He differenciated the social classes, unlike Julius Caesar. Marriage of any two peoplel must be in the same social class (Fife).
